Hospice on the Lutter

The “Hospice on the Lutter” river was founded by the Ariel Deaconess Motherhouse. It was relocated on the grounds of the Neu-Mariahilf Evangelical Hospital in 2018. The hospice has its origin and is a partner institution of the Göttingen-Weende Evangelical Hospital. The service aims at people who require support in the last phase of their life.

Mission

The guiding principle of the hospice movement is to offer a dignified life and to warrant quality of life in holistic perception of the individual. The wishes and needs of the dying person and the support of their relatives are the focus. In addition to caring for and accompanying seriously ill people, our mission is also to provide information and advice on support services and to qualify volunteer hospice workers.

Clinic for Palliative Medicine – Göttingen University Medical Centre

What does the Palliative Care Centre at Göttingen University Medical Centre (UMG) offer?

At the Clinic for Palliative Medicine at UMG, we have established a wide range of inpatient and outpatient structures for palliative care, support and treatment. Our team is multi-professional and consists of doctors, nurses, psychologists, social workers, physiotherapists, pastoral carers, music therapists, administrative staff, an IT specialist and volunteers. We work in close cooperation with practitioners and caregivers within the University Medical Centre Göttingen and in the regional network. Research and student teaching are naturally part of the tasks of the palliative medicine chair. Continuing education and training at the clinic-affiliated and cancer support-funded Mildred Scheel Academy for all professional groups involved in palliative care, as well as training courses for people who would like to volunteer in our outpatient hospice service, and last but not least, scientific and cultural events round off our work. We are pleased to provide you with information about the structures and services offered by the Palliative Care Centre at Göttingen University Hospital.
